If you’re searching for therapy near me in Gainesville, my office is close to UF at: 1212 NW 12th Ave Suite C-4, Gainesville, FL 32601
Common reasons people reach out for therapy in Gainesville.
Feeling constantly overwhelmed or behind
ADHD-related struggles with focus and procrastination
Difficulty keeping up with school, work, or daily responsibilities
Tension at home, relationship stress, or difficulty opening up
Feeling like you should be doing better than you are
For Parents
If your son seems overwhelmed, or behind, it can be hard to know how to help without every conversation turning into tension or silence.
Having an outside person to talk to can give him a place to open up, understand what is getting in the way, and build practical skills for daily responsibilities.
Therapy for College Students in Gainesville Near UF
Being close to campus, I often work with college students and young adults in Gainesville who are adjusting to more independence, more pressure, and less built-in structure.
In therapy, we can work on things like:
Adjusting to college life, new expectations, and major transitions
Keeping up with classes, deadlines, and follow-through without constant panic
Managing anxiety, overthinking, and social stress
Building routines that support focus, sleep, and consistency
Parents are welcome to reach out with questions about scheduling or getting started: 352-234-6723.
Many college students I work with are dealing with overthinking, social stress, procrastination, and focus problems, and some benefit from more focused support for anxiety or ADHD-related challenges.
How I Work
We look at the pattern, not just the surface problem.
Instead of only reacting to stress, procrastination, anxiety, or shutdown in the moment, we slow things down and understand what keeps pulling you into the same cycle.
We focus on tools you can use outside of session.
The goal is not to give you ideas that sound good in theory. It is to help you build strategies that fit your life, your stress level, and the way your mind actually works. We work toward steadier progress over time.
Therapy is not about being perfect or never struggling. It is about feeling less overwhelmed, getting back on track faster, and building more trust in yourself over time.

More about me
Hello! My name is Joe.
This picture is me with me and my dog Ryder, he brings a calming presence to just about everything.
Personally, I’ve had my own seasons of feeling stuck and off track. Therapy helped me rebuild my confidence, and that experience shaped the way I work.
I want you to build reliable skills and self trust so you can handle hard days without spiraling.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before you start.
Therapy Approaches for Anxiety, ADHD, and Depression
My approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to what you are dealing with. Depending on your goals, I often use a mix of the following:
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
CBT helps you understand the patterns behind stress, anxiety, procrastination, shutdown, and self-criticism. We work on practical changes such as noticing unhelpful thought loops, breaking problems into smaller steps, and building habits that are easier to follow through on.DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
DBT skills can help when emotions feel intense or hard to manage. It is especially helpful for overwhelm, frustration, impulsive responses, and getting back on track after a difficult day. Many people use technology to cope with emotions, and I often work with clients in therapy on technology overuse and compulsive online habits.A Practical, Collaborative Approach
Therapy is not about forcing a one-size-fits-all method. We work together to find tools that match your goals, your stress level, and what is realistic for your life right now. Some clients do better with a focused ADHD therapy approach.Somatic work
Stress often shows up in the body, not just in thoughts. Somatic strategies can help with restlessness, tension, shutdown, and stress sensitivity by improving regulation and recovery. This can make it easier to think clearly, stay present, and respond more intentionally.
