DBT for ADHD Counseling in Gainesville Florida
Do you feel overwhelmed and behind, no matter how hard you try?
Counseling to help you:
Reduce overwhelm
Feel more stable with big emotions
Make progress without burnout
Improve focus and follow through
You’re Not Lazy. You’re Just Overloaded.
I have seen many adults with ADHD spend years blaming themselves for patterns that are actually about attention, stress, and nervous system load.
I integrate evidence based DBT methods into my therapy so that you can learn to be more stable, productive, and emotionally regulated.
These are the kinds of experiences many of the adults I work with describe. ↓
What it actually feels like to have ADHD:
Is This a Good Fit for You?
“DBT gives me something I can actually remember when I’m overwhelmed.”
In my work, counseling is often a good fit when people notice things like:
Emotions that escalate quickly and take a long time to settle
Freezing or shutting down when things feel overwhelming
Tasks fall apart under pressure, even when you know what to do
Tension or conflict in relationships when reactions come out fast
How Therapy Helps
I can’t guarantee anything, but often people often notice:
Emotional steadiness
Big feelings feel more workable.More understanding and less self-blame
Patterns feel clearer and less personal.Structure without burnout
Routines that support you instead of overwhelming you.
What Sessions Feel Like
Sessions typically involve:
Identifying one current pattern connected to ADHD symptoms
Practicing one or two DBT skills together
Reviewing what helped and adjusting as needed
The focus is not perfection. It’s helping emotional regulation and reducing overwhelm in real, everyday situations.
Hello! My name is Joe.
Personally, I’ve had my own seasons of feeling stuck and off track. Therapy changed my life and lead me to become a therapist.
I want you to build reliable skills and self trust so you can handle hard days without spiraling.
We’ll go at a pace that feels manageable, and we’ll keep the plan realistic for your life.
My goal is progress without overwhelm.
More on how I work:
Focus on progress without pressure
Change happens at a pace your nervous system can handle.
Evidence informed, skills based approach
Practical tools you can use under stress, not just insight that makes sense on a good day.Focus on self improvement, not just endless talking
We’ll work on what actually helps in the moments you get stuck so you can achieve your goals.

What the First Session Is Like
In the first session, my goal is to help things feel a little less heavy, you don’t have to share anything you’re not comfortable talking about.
We usually focus on three simple steps:
Getting a sense of what’s been hardest recently, in whatever way feels easiest to share
Clarifying what you’d like support with right now
Identifying one small goal to work towards, if and when you’re ready
How to Get Started
Sessions are 50 minutes and $80 per session, self-pay only and available in Gainesville or online across Florida.
